"Well," the lovely, quirky, awesome Laraine Newman says to fifth season guest, superstar Burt Reynolds, who wasn't nominated for an Oscar that year even though his co-stars were, backstage, "you're still number one in my box office."

Burt made for a cool guest on that episode... During his monologue, after a loud round of applause, he quipped: "I know... I live with it everyday."

When Jack Nicholson and Otis Young take Randy Quaid on a roundabout trip to jail, Randy's character meets Luana Anders, an attractive hippie who is into... well the name is too long to write and it's what these people, including Gilda Radner, a few years before headlining on the original SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, and Derek McGrath, chant endlessly...

We've been paying tribute to Harold Ramis, who helped turn the original SNL players into Hollywood icons, especially Bill Murray in films we already covered, and Chevy Chase, who Ramis directed in CADDYSHACK and VACATION...

So let's pay tribute to another actor shown on the Oscar tribute section last Sunday...

A beautiful moment tonight at the 2014 Oscars, when Bill Murray, while presenting an award for best cinematography with Amy Adams, after the nominees' were read, said to the audience: "Oh, we forgot one: Harold Ramis for CADDYSHACK, GHOSTBUSTERS, AND GROUNDHOG DAY."

The crowed roared... And later on, during the memorial, Ramis was shown, although it said: Writer, Director, Actor with GHOSTBUSTERS listed below. Either this means he's best known for that film and the other things are what he did, or they messed up, thinking he, instead of Ivan Reitman, directed the movie.  Probably the first...

Either way, for Ramis and Murray fans, tonight was wonderful. Especially since the duo had a falling out after GROUNDHOG DAY, faring creative differences... But you've heard all about that already...

Although Harold Ramis wasn't hired to become one of the original SNL cast members, he had worked with John Belushi, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray prior to the show... And wound up co-writing MEATBALLS, CADDYSHACK, STRIPES, GHOSTBUSTERS, GHOSTBUSTERS 2 and GROUNDHOG DAY and co-starring with Bill in GHOSTBUSTERS and STRIPES and directing CADDYSHACK and GROUNDHOG DAY for Bill and Chevy Chase in VACATION. 

Harold was the scientist of the SNL original cast legacy, shaping up their skills into cinema, and we say goodbye the the "Buddha of Comedy" and at the same time, begin this blog, LANDSHARK LOUNGE, dedicated to everything the original SNL cast members touched cinematically. And otherwise...
